While known to be traditionally predictable, Canada’s recent snap federal election has been anything but. Early this January, polling showed that the Liberal Party of Canada was on track to suffer one of the largest political defeats in Canadian history, induced by public dissatisfaction with former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s administration. However, the months preceding this election showed a surge in Liberal support driven by national pride and economic uncertainty. The outcomes of this election could prove to be consequential for Canada’s future—and its relationship with the United States.
On May 7, 2025, join AEI’s Colin Dueck for a conversation with the Pendulum Geopolitical Advisory Group’s Balkan Devlen, Jonathan Berkshire Miller of the Macdonald-Laurier Institute, Henry Olsen of the Ethics & Public Policy Center, Summa Strategies’ Tim Powers, and Jamie Tronnes of the Center for North American Prosperity and Security to discuss the results of the Canadian elections and their implications for Canadian-American relations.
